Dundas once was known as an independent town, but now is a beautiful community of Hamilton. Prior to being named Dundas it was called Coote’s Paradise but changed in 1814. Dundas is nicknamed the Valley Town because of its topographical location at the bottom of Niagara Escarpment. Dundas has a average population of twenty thousand, and has been for many years.
In the late 18th and 19th century Dundas was an important town in Upper Canada, but even after that numerous cities in Ontario retain streets called Dundas.
In 1930s McMaster was established in the nearby west Hamilton, Dundas gradually became a bedroom community of the university faculty and students. Dundas and its surrounding areas are filled with endless parks, hiking trails, and beautiful recreation areas.
Since Dundas has such a 19th century downtown architecture many films have been shot in Dundas, such as, Haven, Cabin Fever, Wrong Turn and many others. December 2005, Man of the Year, starring Robin Williams was a major film that was completed in Dundas.
DeLuxe Restaurant had exterior and the inside of the restaurant in the movie, The Incredible Hulk. Other scenes were filmed in nearby Hamilton areas, in September 2007.

Dundas Valley Conservation Area
Amazing place to take your family or friends to enjoy a nice walk, run, bike ride or have a picnic. Its 40 kilometre trail system provides connection to Bruce Trail. This is Canada’s fully developed interurban mutli-use trail system, which is a park of the Trans Canada Trail.
The Peak overlooks Dundas from the Bruce Trail in Flamborough and have become one of the most visited parts of Dundas. You can hike from Bruce Trail o Webster’s Falls to the peak and look over Dundas and West Hamilton. Enjoy a beautiful view.
This is a natural beauty that is a must see. This waterfall flows down Spencer Creek. You can take the whole family as it is equipped with washrooms, picnic tables, and sheltered areas. There is about parking for 75 cars. Maybe people do a lot of photo shoots there for weddings, engagement and family photos. Webster’s Falls has the highest number of vintage postcards bearing the image of the Falls, which suggests that is has been the most frequently visited waterfall in Hamilton and surrounding area.
On March 1, 1976 Town Council proclaimed Dundas "The Cactus Capital of Canada." This gave rise to the Cactus Festival as the Chamber of Commerce and the Dundas Jaycees were looking to create a summer festival with a strong theme. This usually happens in August.
Dundas International Buskerfest
This is a weekend long event that usually happens in June. This event has a free admission and lots of fun. It is a fun filled weekend on the street, with live performers and entertainment. Performers from all across Canada and the world will come out to perform an amazing show for you.
McMaster University is a well-established university in the west side of Hamilton. It is a science focused school since 1930. Students and Faculty use Dundas as an area for residing while working or studying at the university. Dundas is a community with artistic expressions, which is essential for a healthy lifestyle.
Dundas Valley School was established in 1964 and in 1970 it was located in the former Canada Screw Works building from 1860s. McMaster University has a full time diploma programme which started in 1998.
Although Dundas does not have any major malls it does have many unique and sophisticated. You will be able to find anything you need when you go shopping in Dundas. Everything is steps away with excellent quality. It offers diverse collection of clothing for children, infants, adults from casual wear to formal night out. You will be able to find sporting gear to wedding gowns.
